Community Ground Rules

  • Just be nice.

  • Extend help and share knowledge, connections, and insights without expectation of an immediate gain.

  • Don’t pass judgement on someone based on where they come from, their background, or expertise. There is no test to join this community. No qualifications.

Everyone is accepted and valued (unless you break these rules!).

  • You’d be surprised at how big of an impact a lot of small changes can have when put together.

  • Don’t let yourself be bound by what is. Think about what could be.

Pointing out why an idea won’t work in the status quo is unhelpful.

Use your knowledge to provide constructive, specific feedback to help iterate and move ideas closer to reality.

  • For this community to succeed, we need to ensure we represent all aspects of Hawaiʻi Island’s community.

A community made up of techies alone doesn’t represent the community we live in. No matter what industry, location, or background you are valuable to this community!

This is an open and accepting community. A safe space to explore challenging, difficult, and hopeful initiatives.

Disrespect, discrimination, and meanness will not be tolerated.

If you feel that a member is not following the guidelines below, please reach out to us at community@startup-hawaii.com.
